Introduction & Objectives
The ASUCD Sexual Assault Awareness and Advocacy Committee (SAAAC) is a vital resource that works to provide informed advocacy and educational resources about sexual violence, sexual harassment, and sexual assault.
SAAAC has recently embarked on a new initiative aimed at understanding outdoor campus lighting satisfaction among UC Davis students. Lighting satisfaction varies greatly across campus, with differing views on particular roads and areas surrounding halls.
This project aims to provide valuable insights that will guide the improvement of outdoor, on-campus lighting. Findings from the Campus Lighting Satisfaction Survey will optimize future lighting placement to improve the accessibility and safety of UC Davis according to its students’ needs.
Project Objectives
The objectives of the Mobile Pantry project are as follows:
- Collect on-campus lighting and safety sentiments by analyzing how safe students feel at night versus during the day.
- Understand student satisfaction with lighting around campus structures to identify potential areas to address.
- Understand student satisfaction with lighting on campus roads to identify potential roads to address.
This report is intended to inform The ASUCD SAAAC in their initiatives to promote safety-tailored lighting across campus.
